It is my pleasure to welcome you to your Plymouth Marine Centre. Below is a little background on how it came to be and a glimpse of our vision for the future. I am grateful to everyone who has helped us along the way and to those who choose us as their partner in all things marine either as a business associate or as a valued paying customer. Without your support and belief in all we do our business would not be what it is today.
Based at our large waterside premises we created a purpose built facility designed to meet the specific needs of our business. The Plymouth Marine Centre building consists of 3 floors and has large professional service bays, parts department, showroom, several offices, a boardroom, industry relevant tenants providing insurance, finance and a watersports retail outlet. We have a slipway which enables ease of access to our waterside for various engineering operations and sea trials. Currently some 50 boats use our moorings, in addition to which the yard supports another 100+ vessels during summer and winter storage. Our crane operations provide convenient services to our customers requiring large vessel lifts.
I have the pleasure of leading Plymouth Marine with my youngest son David as my Managing Director, working alongside loyal engineers and a highly motivated administration team that also includes my wife, daughter-in-law and eldest son. We all have an unquenchable passion to develop our family business, to consistently exceed customer expectations and maintain a personable manner delivering confidence and trust in everything we do. It is this that enables our customer experiences to flourish into long term client/service provider relationships. The “Old fashioned customer service thing’’ matters to us.
We have detailed stepped plans for our future. We will provide a level of service and experience reaching far beyond that currently offered or expected by some areas of our sector. We believe in delivering what we promise and put right those things that inevitably go wrong from time to time. Honesty and trust are the foundations on which we build a strong and enduring business.
Since 2011 we have won several tenders to manage the contract for the Environment Agency fleet of boats across the United Kingdom and over the last ten years I have travelled the country and built a network of forty five qualified professional companies across the UK, managed by our Fleet support administrator from our Plymouth offices. This contract will continue into late 2024 where we shall look to further our support and provide continued contract servicing to the Environment agency using the comprehensive structure and experience I have worked hard to build, implement, and improve year on year since 2011. This contract allows us to use our experience to provide the Environment Agency with reliable engines, servicing, advice and custom solutions such as surveying, vessel upgrades, consultation and project management of new vessel design and build.
Our ongoing success will be as a result of continued hard work, great teamwork and a shared vision. Our business is all about our people including you our customers. Our team has progressively developed and consists of highly trained Engineers, Service manager, Boatyard manager, Finance administrator, Parts department manager and assistant, Fleet support administrator, Administration support along with Sales and Marketing. It is this ever growing and developing team that supports myself and the Directors, allowing us to create a bright future for the business and all who benefit from our presence.
Our vision is built on doing the right thing, delivering excellence in our fields of expertise, with a laser focus on customer needs, providing a quality solution that is fit for purpose and an uncompromising approach to safety.
